Kale Chips

I’ve been hearing about these famous kale chips for a while. I found some kale at Publix yesterday and decided to try and make this snack that seems to satisfy everyone so much. I found this recipe on Smitten Kitchen. I went a LITTLE overboard on the salt, but other than that, the chips tasted great.

I don’t know about you, but I had never cooked with kale before. In case you’ve never seen it, this is kale:

4 bunches kale, chopped

1 tbsp. olive oil

Salt (don’t use too much! Just a pinch!)


Preheat the oven to 350F. Spray a cookie sheet with Pam. In a bowl, combine the kale and olive oil, tossing until the kale is lightly coated with the oil. Arrange on the cookie sheet. Do not overlap the kale pieces. Sprinkle a bit of salt over the kale. Bake for 20 minutes. Let the kale chips cool for some minutes before you dig in.

My Concluding Observations (sorry, I’ve been reading for International Human Rights law all day): Crispy, smells a bit like broccoli when baking (egh), tastes amazing! They are not very filling, but they do provide a nice crunch to accompany my hummus-avocado sandwich for lunch. I’ll definitely make these again! 



I baked my kale chips at 400F for 20 minutes and they came out great!
