This is a really healthy smoothie that is easy to make and requires just a few ingredients. My friend Ava shared this idea with me. She makes these types of smoothies with her boyfriend, and one day when we were ready to start our day at the office, she let me try one that they had made that morning. It was amazing!! I knew spinach was a popular ingredient in smoothies, but I never thought about putting kale in them. Certainly a good way to kick off a busy day!
1 Gala apple, scrubbed and quartered
1 banana, cut into chunks
1 cup kale (add more if you want, up to 1.5 cups)
1/4-1/3 cup water
Place the apples, kale, and water in a blender. Process until smooth. Add the kale. Continue blending. Then add ice.
Makes 1 smoothie
Note: Instead of using ice, I freeze bananas and use them instead.
